About Sikkim Tourist Destination, India

Sikkim is a state in East India in the Himalayan foot hills also bordering China (Tibet), Nepal and Bhutan.The name has been coined from the words ‘Su’,’Him’i.e. beautiful home. Sikkim is the least populous and second smallest among the Indian states. And Gangtok is capital and largest city in Sikkim. Almost 35% of the state is covered by the Khangchendzonga National Park. The snow covered mountains, lush green valleys and the world’s third highest peak kanchenjunga is attract millions of tourists every years.

Sikkim is notable for its biodiversity, including alpine and subtropical climates, as well as being a host to Kanchenjunga, the highest peak in India and third highest on Earth. In this state, nature has spent a lot of time in the state; tourists can see beautiful hills, waterfalls, lakes and national park etc here.

Yumthang Valley, in the north of Sikkim at an elevation of 3,564 meters, is a stunningly beautiful and well-visited tourist destination. Zuluk, in the east Sikkim with zig-zag road, located at an altitude of around 3000 meters (10100 ft), Zuluk is a relatively new offbeat tourist destination of Sikkim.

Traditional food and their everyday meal of Sikkim is ‘Dal Bhaat’ (Rice & Dal). And addition some of the most famous dishes are available in Sikkim like Thukpa, Momos, Shah-Phaley, Wonton, Thenthuk and Gyathuk etc

You can visit any time in sikkim, you can find different views at alternetive season. As a suggested, the best time to visit Sikkim is either between March and May or October and mid-December. If you want to witness the blooming natural beauty in Gangtok best season to visit would be in spring, from March to May. Autumn, on the other hand, brings the clear view of Himalayan Range.

The official languages of the state are English, Nepali, Sikkimese (Bhutia) and Lepcha. Additional official languages include Gurung, Limbu, Magar, Mukhia, Newari, Rai, Sherpa and Tamang for the purpose of preservation of culture and tradition in the state.

New Jalpaiguri and Siliguri are the two rail stations nearest to Sikkim located in West Bengal. And Bagdogra (IXB) International Airport also known Siliguri International Airport at Siliguri, in West Bengal is nearest Airport. Siliguri is 111 Km and Bagdogra is 121 Km from Gangtok and is well connected to all the major cities.
